Lamara Home Care Services was founded to address a growing reality in Uganda—our elderly population is increasing, while families are carrying more responsibilities than ever before. Many seniors are left without the consistent support they need to live safely and meaningfully at home.
We exist to fill that gap with dignity, compassion, and heart-forward care.
About Our Founder
Froukje Zwaga MSc, MA is a professional in the field of non-medical home care services for elderly and chronically ill people. She set up a successful home care agency in a central region of the Netherlands as part of a larger franchise organization and has been managing this agency since 2019. This agency focusses on providing personalized support to seniors, so they can live independently and with dignity in their familiar surroundings.
Before getting into the home care business she worked for 25 years in the international development world in many different countries, including over 14 years in Uganda and Eastern and Southern Africa.
Uganda has become a second home to me, with starting Lamara Home Care Services I want to give back and invest my knowledge and experience in providing essential care for the elderly. I believe that my experience in home care in the Netherlands combined with the experience of working in Uganda can contribute to the growing need for personalized care for elderly in Uganda.

What began as a vision to honor our elders has become a mission-driven service dedicated to the wellbeing of Uganda’s aging and chronically ill. We believe every person deserves to age with comfort and meaning—surrounded by family, community, and caregivers who genuinely care.
